Readme for Compaqnt.zip Compaq does not support NT on Presario models. Due the the unique/proprietary nature of the Compaq-supplied LT modem, it takes a 'special effort' to get it to work with NT4. NOTE: This is NOT supported by Compaq! What you need to do: Unzip the modem553.exe self-extracting file available from this site to a folder. Unzip the compaqnt.zip file to the SAME folder. There will be a warning since 1 of the files (SETUP.INI) will already exist. OVERWRITE it. This is your modified install/firmware set for NT, and you can run setup.exe on your COMPAQ w/ LT Modem. If the modem is already installed, run it once to remove the modem; reboot; run it again to install the modem. The zip files contains the following 7 files: LTDF-1.INF LTDF-1I.INF LTDF-2.INF LTDF-2I.INF LTHOMOL.EXE LTHOMOL.INI SETUP.INI NOTE: Depending upon what else is in the PC, it may be necessary to edit the modem .inf file to force a specific COM port. These files added to the 'generic' Lucent package will: create a COM port, and create and start an NT service. --------- NOTE NOTE NOTE - This is 'unsupported' by Compaq - of course, they don't support NT4 at all for your Presario, so if you're running NT, you should know enough to try this out - AT YOUR OWN RISK!
