This is a Modemsite.com readme for Agere (formerly Lucent) 8.28 LT Win Modem driver version released April '03.

CAUTION: I have tested this release in Windows 98 & XP. I have found a problem with Windows 98 (.vxd driver) calling V.92/V.44 (Level 3) server: after CONNECT, no data will flow unless V.44 is turned off (+DS44=0,0). At this time, I do not know if this will affect other .vxd driver users (Win 95/98). I have not found any problems with XP (.sys driver).

If you run the 8.28 update, it's a good idea to first do a backup of your registry: you can recover from a partial failed installation by restoring the registry.

This release contains both .vxd and WDM drivers. WDM drivers are supported in Windows 98SE, Me, 2000 and XP. WDM and .vxd drivers are supported in Windows 98 and Me - but switching back to .vxd driver after upgrade to WDM driver is not fully documented or understood by this author at this time.
