Readme - 8.30 Agere Win Modem

This is a Modemsite.com readme for Agere (formerly Lucent) 8.30 Win Modem driver version released August '03.

With this release, Agere has changed the friendly name of the modem from "Lucent Win Modem" (or "LT Win Modem") to "Agere Win Modem". This means that your dial-up networking connectoids and other software that refers to the modem by its friendly name will need to be updated after you upgrade to the 8.30 release. (Check and edit your connectoids to specify the newly named modem. You can also create new connectoids.) If you have applications that access the modem via it's COM PORT assignment - check to see if the port has changed by checking the Modem properties from Control Panel.

This release contains both .vxd and WDM drivers. WDM drivers are supported in Windows 98SE, Me, 2000 and XP. WDM and .vxd drivers are supported in Windows 98 and Me - but switching back to .vxd driver after upgrade to WDM driver is not fully documented or understood by this author at this time.
