Modem Trouble - Network (LAN) Cards (New 18-Apr-02)
A PC that has a network adapter (NIC or LAN card) in addition to a modem may cause trouble - even if you are not using the network adapter and even if you are not connected to a LAN!
The two basic problems involve:
A hardware/driver conflict - switching PCI slots might be an easy fix.
A Windows Networking setup problem (disabling or removing the network adapter might be an easy fix).
